Hello, I’m Joanne
Registered Dietitian (CORU) with many years experience working in the field of mental health in the Irish Health Service. I am also a certified mindfulness teacher (UCC) and a registered yoga teacher (YAP).
I create space for clients to slow down, take a breath, and find their path to wellness in a body obsessed and frantic world.
My services are for adults > 20 years old.
I am also a mum, a wife, a sister, a daughter, a business owner, a coffee chugger, a life juggler, an accidental house plant killer, a terrible baker and a 1980’s music lover.
I am so glad you are here!
Wellbe is a welcoming space for you..
to explore one-to-one non-diet nutrition counseling.
to explore healing mind-body self-care through mindfulness and mindful movement.
to reclaim your relationship with health (whatever that means to you), free of weight stigma and diet dogma.
to re-connect with yourself, and connect with other like-minded humans on the same path to living an authentic and easefully-nourished life.
I PROVIDE AFFIRMING, INCLUSIVE SERVICES TO PEOPLE OF DIVERSE BACKGROUNDS AND NEEDS.
We are navigating a society that idolises thinness, and a healthcare system that medicalises larger body size. I support you to quieten this noise and find a path to what is rightfully yours - an easeful relationship with food, body, movement, health and life-stress. You are the expert of you. I tailor my services to your needs, wants, goals, life-experience, at your pace and depth.
I regularly work with other health professionals - physicians, mental health clinicians and fellow dietitians - to ensure clients best care.
I recognise I hold many unearned privilege’s, including not having personal experience of weight stigma or weight discrimination. I bring many years of professional experience and a massive dose of compassion to my work. I centre you as an expert in your experience. I am committed to regular supervision and training in the area of weight inclusive care so that I support clients towards fair healthcare outcomes.
I founded Wellbe after many years in a registered dietitian role in eating disorders and mental health services.
In my work I weave the ancient embodiment traditions that are yoga and mindfulness with non-diet, intuitive eating counseling and medical nutrition therapy. My approach is informed by polyvagal theory (how our internal nervous system regulates our inner experience - our heart rate, our gut function, our breathing and our relationship with stress).
I have an interest in research around weight stigma, how negative body size messages are handed to us from a young age and how this erodes our relationship with food, movement and body image.
I am passionate about providing weight-inclusive care, a healing social justice, non-diet approach rooted in body respect and science.
